The potential candidate shall be capable of following written and verbal health and safety regulations and procedures. The applicant must be willing to provide operational assistance to welding and machine tool operators and able to perform verbal as well as written assignments effectively. The candidate must be able to work independently and under the direction of the senior Craftsmen in weldment fabrications. The applicant must have prior experience with GMAW, FCAW and GTAW processes, grinding equipment, sheet metal bending, drill presses, ban saws. Equipment maintenance and repair would be useful but not required.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Ability analyzing technical drawings packages & welding specifications to include AWS D1.1, D1.2 and D17.3 (FSW) and assist in producing final welded product to these requirements.
  • Perform GTA aluminum welding (AC and DC electrode negative) on a variety alloys, joints and thicknesses.
  • Ability to complete written welding inspections and record results.
  • Perform all duties while maintaining compliance with all regulatory, quality system and safety requirements and the ability to communicate in a professional manner.
  • Willingness to learn and perform additional responsibilities as appropriate or as requested.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma plus additional technical coursework preferred.
  • Prior directly related technical work experience.
  • Skill in using a variety of hand standard tools and welding shop equipment.
  • The candidate must have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a fast-paced welding environment.

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Regularly or frequently talking, hearing, touching, grasping, standing, walking, reaching with hands/arms and performing repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement.
  • Light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force.
  • Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less, three-dimensional vision, ability to identify and distinguish colors, and ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus to review test results.
  • Intermediate to advanced math skills to deal with mathematical relationships, algebra, geometry, and shop math (i.e., fractions, percentages, proportions, etc.)
  • Intermediate reading and writing skills.

Work Environment:

  • This position is in a climate-controlled environment and is safety and security sensitive.
  • Moderate noise level.
  • Frequently works near fumes or airborne particles. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
