Performs varied technical duties providing prompt resolution of problems involving computer applications, networks, hardware/software and peripheral equipment. Acts as a front-line troubleshooter but utilizes proper judgment to escalate issues when necessary. Work is performed according to well established business and technical procedures, practices, and techniques and prioritized together with management and/or Company Service Desk.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provides responsive, timely support to end-user questions, requests, issues. Troubleshoots and resolves problems with desktop applications, networks, hardware/software and data communication systems; documents all work in applicable database(s); and ensures follow-up to meet end-user expectations.
2. * Performs installations, configurations, testing and upgrades of personal computers, new business applications, cloud applications and desktop hardware/software as determined by ISMO and/or established procedures and standards.
3. * Maintains peripheral equipment, including printers, phones, and audiovisual equipment.
4. Performs preventative maintenance on computer, data communication, and/or peripheral equipment; tests; and makes necessary adjustments to comply with documented standards.
5. Works closely with other IT staff to ensure clear communication of outstanding issues and end-user problems. Works as a team to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
6. Works with server/infrastructure support personnel to resolve LAN, WAN and special application issues requiring use of standard interface protocols as needed.
7. May be responsible for monitoring inventory for new hires; replacement of frequently needed parts/equipment and communicating low inventory levels to management or appropriate personnel.
8. May assist users in identifying hardware/software needs; provide advice regarding applicable options, policies and procedures; and monitor lifecycle replacements.
9. May contribute to documentation of technical processes, troubleshooting guidelines; and end-user frequently asked questions.
10. May monitor automated alerts generated by systems management tools; resolving routine alerts and referring all others to management or appropriate technical staff.
11. Performs additional responsibilities as appropriate or as requested.
Physical and Mental Demands:
• Regularly or frequently sitting, talking, hearing, grasping, touching, walking, reaching with hands/arms and performing repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movements.
• Light work exerting up to 35 pounds of force to move computers.
• Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less to use and work on computers.
• Concentrated attention to support customer needs while dealing with interruptions and distractions.
• Apply reasoning to solve practical problems and to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
• Basic math, language, writing and reading skills.
Work Environment:
• Moderate noise level (i.e. computers, printers, etc.).
• Indoor temperature-controlled office environment.
Minimum Qualifications and Skills:
• High school diploma plus at least an Associate's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Science or a related academic field.
• Technical support experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency with operating a tele management workstation and an ability to use a variety of automated diagnostic tools for network troubleshooting.
